Come and learn this defensive Martial Art in the dojo where Aikido was first taught in the UK in the early 1950s. Based on the principal of using your opponent’s strength against him, Aikido is ideal for both sexes from the age of 8 upwards and you can continue training in your 70s!

Sensei Paul Foster-Dent (5th Dan), grandson of Sensei Foster.

The Hut Dojo is the Headquarters of the Institute of Aikido, which has affiliated clubs throughout the world.

Aikido is a Japanese defensive martial art based on throws and immobilisation techniques. The Hut Aikido Club is proud of its long tradition of teaching Aikido, having been in continuous existence since the 1950s. The Hut Dojo was the place where Abbe Sensei first taught Aikido in the UK.

The Dojo is permanently matted (no need to lay the mats or lift them up at the end of the session!) with 36 tatami.

The Hut Dojo is situated near Hillingdon Hospital, behind the The Hut public house in Old Orchard Road, Uxbridge, Middx. UB8 3LH.

Sensei Foster Memorial Training Session

On 16 February 2017 Aikidoka from IoA clubs at The Hut, Slough and Kingston trained at The Hut in a session in memory of the Founder of the Institute of Aikido, Sensei Haydn Foster, who passed away six years ago. The session was led by his grandson, Sensei Paul Foster-Dent.
